Luck Doesn’t Exist: The Principle of Cause and Effect

“Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause; everything happens according to Law; Chance is but a name for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law.”- The Kybalion

Have you ever thought about someone and they suddenly appeared or gave you a phone call? Have you experienced odd coincidences, or had things suddenly go your way which you attributed to luck?

Sorry (or not sorry) to burst your bubble here, but according to the Principle of Cause and Effect, there is no such thing as coincidence or luck.

I’ll say that again: there is no such thing as coincidence or luck.

When I first got into studying the Emerald Tablets, I was immediately drawn to “The Key of Prophecy”. I was thrilled that there was a “key” to reading the future! Determined to cultivate this skill for myself, I continued to read… well, here is the key to prophecy….

Know ye, O man,
that all of the future is an open book
to him who can read.
All effect shall bring forth its causes
as all effects grew from the first cause.
Know ye the future is not fixed or
stable but varies as cause brings forth an effect.
Look in the cause thou shalt bring into being,
and surely thou shalt see that all is effect.

Imagine my disappointment! As naive as I was, I really thought there was some magic trick to telling the future, but the truth is much simpler than we’ve been led to believe. All future events are the results present causes. What we do now shapes our futures. Do with that what you will.

But what about elements of chance? Gambling? Rolling dice? Surely there is luck and chance there? Right?

Well, no. As the Kybalion touches on, even the roll of dice is dictated by natural laws. The aim of the throw, the level of the table, the gravitational pull on the dice all have a part to play in what the outcome of the roll is. Vibrations you emit, and thus attract, effect whether or not the outcome becomes good or bad for you. You see, nothing is chance. Nothing is luck. Everything is simply caused and effect.

This is an extremely powerful principle that if mastered can have profound effects on your life. The bonus is that since is a natural princple, it happens all the time whether you are aware of it or not. Now that you are more aware, however, you can use it to your benefit.
